Rock River Flooding at TPC Deere Run in Silvis IL

We have very many nice golf courses here in the Quad Cities both private and public.  And they are very reasonably priced.  The Tournament Players Club has a course at Deere Run in Silvis IL.  Here is a link:

The Rock River runs adjacent to the course.  It flows into the Mississippi River just south of Rock Island IL.

I was there for lunch last week.  It looks to me like the Rock River has claimed a hole or two.

This is also the home of the John Deere Classic.

Up River in Dubuque

We attended the dog show in Dubuque last weekend.  They have done a nice job of making some improvements including a Mississippi River Museum.

I really liked the big dogs:

But just for pictures, not for sleeping in the bed.

The Lion of March

The weather warmed up and now it is cold again, nasty wind tonight.  No snow though, thank heavens.

We stopped by the cottage on the river tonight.  The river was angry, rollers coming in.  But then the clouds started to break and some sun shone from the west.

Here are some snapshots.  Lock and dam 14 is in the background:

Well, I guess you can’t see the lock and dam.

Not much chance of flooding this year

The chance of flooding on the Mississippi in this area is less than normal.
