The cottage is in the flood plain, but in 2008, we had the 4th highest crest and did not get water in the house. We are right upstream of lock and dam 14, and the water does not get as high directly upstream from the dam.
For this spring the forecast is less chance than normal for a flood.
The cottage is close to the I-80 Le Claire exchange which gives easy and quick access to many Quad City locations.
The cottage is on leased land from the Army Corps. The lease has just been renewed for ten years and runs until 31 December 2018. The lease payment is $1510.00 payable every six months. Lease is currently paid through June 30. It is possible to get a mortgage that matches the length of the lease term.
The great thing about this cottage is that you pay for one lot, but get the use of the two vacant lots on either side.
The cottage is right between Green Gables Marina and Captains Quarters, where you can gas up the boats. It is a short hop to Princeton Beach. The cottage is located on pool 14, which is about 30 miles long, all the way up to north of Clinton.
